High Dynamic Range (HDR) images is my latest thing. It enables me to come up with pictures I would otherwise have been unable to produce. I'd heard of it sometime back, but didn't seriously explore it. And then I was made aware of this person's photos. I loved how they looked so much that I decided to get into it with all the seriousness it deserves.
While going through the photos in the above Flickr page, I got to learn of the Photomatix software. While you can manually manipulate images using Photoshop to generate the HDR images, I much prefer having Photomatix do it for me. That way, I can focus on doing the actual photography instead of spending all my time infront of a computer editing photos.
The first few photos I worked on didn't look right. I realised that I needed to touch up the photos in Photoshop some after taking them through Photomatix. This is fine with me, since that is just minimal extra steps. And once I know what look I want for a particular set of pictures, I can automate things and batch process the whole set.
So far I have taken pictures in Nakuru, Baringo, Naivasha and Isiolo that I have generated HDR images from. Here is a small sampling of these pictures. Enjoy!

Good work & great to know you're into HDRs.
Kool pics & edits. A hint if you don't mind. To also better use Photomatix it's encouraged to generate at least 3 different level exposures with a tripod.
That way when editing in Photomatix or Photoshop you can alter individual scales on each slide/pic resolution esp where you have poles, pillars or bars on an object.

Asante for the comments.
I actually do use a tripod when I can. I prefer that since I get better output with the different exposures taken. And yes, I do use 3 exposures, seperated by 2ev each.
When I can't use a tripod, then I try my best to be as steady as I can, though I've found this only works with high shutter speeds. I shoot in aperture priority and bracket, shooting in continuous mode. What I've now come to realise is that once autofocus has locked, I need to switch to manual to get the best images.
I didn't know about editing of the individual pics prior to generating the HDR. I'll have to try that out.
This is all very exciting, and I look forward to learning as much as I can about it.
Would you photoshop my photo against some of these backgrounds and make them fol proof?
wow great pics gotta get me some of that HDR!
i am stuck staring at those images like i was hypnotised! [bows down, hits head on desk] Ouch!! they are fantastic. talent...so much talent.

Makes the trouble of getting up at wierd hours and having to get on the ground and dirty yourself so worth it!
Rebecca
Welcome kwangu. And thanks.
Nature provides us such beauty to work with.

Asante. Once you get that DSLR, even you can work on such beauty.
Kool beans! You got this on lock then! You're right about the steady hand if not havinng a tripod or stable flat surface to mount the camera.
Some people find the +2, -2 EV tricky or something they can just ignore but it works very well and the results show as clear as day. I could tell you used that and a manual setting.
Some cameras do offer a butto or lever for instant bracketing while others require manual settings each time. All the same, magic works when like you, have a good subject & pick out the best location then HDR what works best.
Yeah, u can try editing indiv pics but just to alter contrast or gamma...rarely do the light since the Photomatix has that setting imbedded in it.
As always, looking forward to more killa pics here.
