Month of Photography

The month of photography is coming up in June. This time round, they are having local photographers exhibiting during the entire month, with the launch date on June 2nd. The theme for this year is Dukas. Anything from a small road side stall to an estate kiosk to a shop in Westgate Mall. So long as it is small (meaning Nakumatt, Uchumi and their likes are not part of the definition) or family/community owned, it is fair game.

Where do you come in? Well, I am part of those tasked with coming up with images that will be curated for the show. I am in search of a shop that I can use as my subject. If you have one, or know of one, let me know so we can figure out how this will work. What you get out of this is free photography higlighting your business. At the end of the exercise, you will get all the edited images on disc free of charge from me. If some of the images I take are selected for the exhibition, these will be printed and on display at Alliance Francaise where it will take place.

With that in mind, the following are the criteria you need to meet for me to work with you:

Willing to have me photograph your shop.
Willing to be photographed as well as your employees if any.
Willing to have prints made and displayed out of the images taken.

If this is all agreeable to you, get in touch with me and we can get things rolling. This needs to be done quick since work on initial selection of images begins in 6 weeks. Between now and that time, I have an obligation to provide about 10 images per week for critiquing. It is out of the 60 images critiqued that 4 or 5 will be selected for the exhibit.

Unfortunately I had to cancel my project. I will not do it as part of MoP, but I'll probably go ahead with it as a personal project later when I can get back to it. I will definitely post from it if I do it.

..Just passing through to say I LOVE your work!! I am a big fan of David Lorenz Winston's ( and have several of his collections) - and your work is as good :-)
