I just sold my first cake ever yesterday. Very interesting, since baking has purely been just to satiate my own sweet tooth. A friend who tasted one of my cakes asked me to bake not one but two of them for an event she had. How cool! Interesting way to supplement my photography income.
Thanks to EK13, I now know that 3 of my photos appeared in a magazine article. I need to figure out how to get paid for these things! I'm losing out on revenue! And as if it isn't bad enough I didn't get paid, I also didn't get credited for the photos!
Another friend told me a shoot I did for her last year was finally published in a French magazine, Miss Ebene. As soon as I get a scanned copy I'll share it here. And yet another magazine, Esquire (China edition) has some photos I took of Prof. Wangari Maathai. This, too, will be shared as soon as I get scanned copies. Good to know folks all over are seeing my work.
One thing I have realised though, I'd much rather get paid than credited. At least for the Prof. Maathai shoot I am getting paid. Money sure makes more sense than credit!
This week I go on a road trip taking photos for a magazine that is planning future articles. As soon as they publish I shall share it on here.

How did all these magazines get a hold of your photos?

For the first case, the client must have given out the photos. Who knows how many other media have them, since I do know it was also done on Boing Boing. For the second case, my friend had stated that it would be used by the magazine with full credit. Well, a bunch of hot gas that! For the Maathai case, I was approached by an editorial agency who asked me to do the photo shoot. For that one, at least payment is forthcoming.
In the same way these magazines got a hold of your pics- can I get the cake?

egm...I can confirm it was Bart who released the pics to Arise as he was 'Thanked' on the editorial team credits page. Good thing I spotted it, huh?

Saw your pics in Arise (lovely magazine on v. good paper- am a bit of magazine addict)...looked good! Was funny/weird/cool to say "I know who took those pics!"
